I wanna be like Jesus

Above are words from a song I wrote and I think it best describes who I am and what I’m about.  I do want to be like Jesus. I want to want the things He wants. 

I once was lost…
I was abused as a child and then I did many things afterwards to abuse myself.  I spent years runinng away from God.

But now am found…
When Christ found me I was a mess, broken and wounded.  Yet he was able to heal me completely and turn my life around.  Now I know why I was created.

Was blind…
All my life I was only interested in the things that suited me and my purposes.  I didn't really care about anybody else.  I was on an endless self-pity crusade.

But now I see…
Now I’m on a crusade for Christ.  My main goal in life is to fulfill the great commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20--“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  I want to tell the whole world about the love, forgiveness, peace, and eternal life that Jesus Christ gives freely and abundantly.  And I want to be His arms reaching out and loving them.   Out of gratitude for all He’s done for me, I will serve Him forever!

I’m a professional singer and songwriter and have toured with rock bands and recorded with various artists.  I’ve written and sung on countless commercials for national radio and television.  I even got to write a Miss USA theme song once.  But these things mean nothing to me anymore.  My greatest loves now are Christ, my husband and partner Joe, and my two sons, Nicholas and Joey.  My most profound passions are ministering to the lost and hurting of this world and leading Praise and Worship at my church, Coronado Baptist.

I'm most grateful to God that He's allowing me to witness through writing prose.  Most recently I've authored two books which I hope to have published in early 2008.  You can read more about these in the resource section.  I had an article published in November/December 2007 by Christianity Today's magazine, Today's Christian, about my testimony.  I've also written for Chicken Soup for the Soul.
